Telangana on High Alert as Cyclone Montha Brings Heavy Rainfall

The Telangana government has issued a high alert as Cyclone Montha approaches, bringing the threat of extremely heavy rainfall and strong winds to the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast intense weather conditions for several districts over the coming days.

According to the IMD, districts including Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri – Bhongir, Medak, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Khammam, and Bhadradri – Kothagudem are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on October 28 and 29, 2025. Hyderabad is likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds ranging from 40 to 60 km/h, with the peak impact anticipated on October 28.

Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. Flash floods and waterlogging are possible, especially in low-lying areas, prompting warnings from local authorities.

The Telangana Disaster Management Authority has activated emergency response teams to deal with any situation, while the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has set up dedicated helplines 8712406901 and 9000113667 for residents to report emergencies.

Officials have urged the public to stay updated through official weather channels and local news outlets to ensure safety during the cyclone.

Telangana residents are being urged to take all necessary precautions as the state braces for the severe impact of Cyclone Montha over the next few days.
