Telangana CM Targets KCR, KTR Over Musi River Issue

The Chief Minister of Telangana launched a sharp attack on opposition leaders K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) during a heated session in the State Assembly, using their past statements on the Musi River to question their record in power.

During the debate, the Chief Minister cited earlier remarks made by the leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), highlighting their promises and positions on cleaning and developing the Musi River. He argued that despite years in office, the previous government failed to deliver meaningful progress on the river’s restoration and pollution control.

The ruling side emphasized its current plans for rejuvenation of the Musi River, presenting them as a corrective step to long-standing neglect. The Chief Minister said the government is committed to improving water quality, urban infrastructure, and environmental conditions along the river.

In response, BRS leaders defended their tenure, stating that several initiatives were taken during their time in power and accused the current government of politicizing the issue.

The exchange led to intense debate in the Assembly, with both sides trading allegations over development, governance, and accountability related to one of Hyderabad’s most significant waterways.

The Musi River remains a key civic and environmental concern, with its condition often becoming a focal point in political discussions in the state.
