Tejashwi Yadav Issues Stern Warning Ahead of Bihar Election Result, If 2020 Mistakes Are Repeated

Tejashwi Yadav Issues Stern Warning Ahead of Bihar Election Result

With Bihar set for a crucial vote counting day, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav issued a sharp warning to election officials and the administration, cautioning them against any “Repeat of 2020 mistakes.” His remarks have heightened political tension ahead of the announcement of results for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

“If the administration repeats the mistake of 2020, the public will take care of it”

Addressing the media a day before counting, Tejashwi reminded officials of the controversy surrounding the 2020 election, when the NDA won by narrow margins and the opposition alleged irregularities in the counting process. He said that any unconstitutional or biased behaviour during vote counting “will not be tolerated” and that people of Bihar are watching closely.

He further said that if any deliberate delay or manipulation occurs especially in seats where the opposition alliance (Mahagathbandhan/INDIA bloc) is leading the public will “Respond strongly.”

Accuses ruling camp of being ‘Restless’

Tejashwi claimed that the ruling NDA is anxious because “they know they are losing power this time.” He dismissed exit polls predicting an NDA victory, insisting that ground reports indicate a clear majority for the opposition alliance.

Calls for vigilance at counting centres

The RJD leader instructed party workers and counting agents to stay alert and monitor every round closely. He emphasised that protecting the integrity of the counting process is essential, particularly in constituencies known for close contests.

The opposition alliance also submitted a formal request to the Election Commission of India, urging strict oversight, transparency and impartiality throughout the day.

Reference to 2020 counting controversy

Tejashwi’s “2020 mistake” remark refers to several seats in the 2020 Assembly election where the opposition alleged that counting was delayed, postal ballots were mishandled and winners were declared despite disputes over final rounds. While the Election Commission rejected the allegations at the time, the issue remains politically sensitive.

Tense atmosphere ahead of results

With both alliances claiming victory and accusing each other of foul play, Bihar is bracing for a high pressure counting day. Security has been tightened across counting centres and the Election Commission has appealed to all parties to maintain peace.

Political observers say Tejashwi’s warning is a strategic move to keep pressure on officials and energise supporters, but it may also fuel apprehension about unrest if results are close or contested.
