Supriya Shrinate Raises Questions Over Alleged Epstein Reference

Congress leader and party spokesperson Supriya Shrinate on Friday raised questions regarding an alleged email in which convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein reportedly claimed a connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to Modi’s foreign visits in 2017, Shrinate sought clarification from the government on the nature of any such reference and demanded transparency.

In her statement, Shrinate cited Prime Minister Modi’s June 2017 visit to the United States, where he met then US President Donald Trump, followed by his July 2017 visit to Israel. She questioned whether there was any link between these diplomatic engagements and Epstein’s purported claims, asking why the Prime Minister’s name appeared in such a context. She further said the matter deserved a clear explanation from the Prime Minister.

“The country needs to know why the Prime Minister’s name is being linked with a man like Epstein,” Shrinate said, adding that the issue raised serious concerns about India’s image abroad.

Responding to the controversy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation, strongly rejecting any suggestion of association with Epstein. He described the allegations as “baseless” and “Politically Motivated” stating that his foreign visits were strictly in the interest of India’s diplomatic and strategic partnerships.

“The meetings and visits undertaken by me as Prime Minister were part of official state engagements to strengthen India’s global standing,” Modi said. “There is absolutely no truth in these insinuations. Such claims are being spread to mislead the public and damage India’s reputation.”

The Prime Minister also accused opposition parties of attempting to divert attention from governance issues by raising sensational allegations without evidence. The BJP echoed Modi’s remarks, calling Shrinate’s statements “Irresponsible” and demanding an apology.

Political reactions remain sharply divided, with the Congress insisting that the Prime Minister must offer detailed clarification, while the ruling party maintains that no credible proof has been presented to support the claims.

The issue has sparked debate on social media and in political circles, though no official document or independent verification has emerged to substantiate the alleged email linking Epstein with the Prime Minister. Government sources reiterated that India’s foreign policy engagements are conducted through established diplomatic channels and are fully documented.
