Drug abuse is one of the most dangerous threats to our society, especially for the younger generation. It not only destroys individual lives but also weakens families, communities, and the nation’s future. In recent years, drug usage among youth has increased due to peer pressure, curiosity, lack of awareness, and easy availability through illegal networks. The effects of drug addiction are devastating it leads to mental health disorders, physical damage, criminal behavior, academic failure, unemployment, and even death.
The Telangana Government and Telangana Police Department are taking strong and proactive steps to fight the drug menace. The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has been specially formed to crack down on drug dealers and peddlers. Raids, arrests, and strict legal action under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) are being regularly carried out. Public helplines and cyber surveillance are helping track illegal drug transactions, especially on social media and dark web platforms. Awareness campaigns are being conducted in schools, colleges, and public places to educate youth and parents about the dangers of drug abuse.
The government is also working to rehabilitate addicts through counseling centers, de-addiction clinics, and mental health support services. Parents and teachers must stay alert to early warning signs in children, such as mood swings, sudden secrecy, dropping academic performance, or change in behavior.
Every citizen has a role in this fight. If you notice any suspicious activity related to drugs, report immediately to the local police or dial 100. Creating a drug-free Telangana is not only the government’s responsibility but also ours. Let us join hands to protect our children, strengthen our communities, and secure a healthy, bright future for the next generation.
