Rajendranagar DCP Yogesh Gowtham has issued a stern warning against filing false police complaints and circulating unverified information on social media. The statement comes under the Attapur Police Station limits, following an incident where a video was widely shared without proper enquiry.
Addressing the issue, the DCP stressed that individuals spreading misinformation online will face strict legal consequences. He urged citizens, especially social media users and media professionals, to verify facts before circulating any video or news.
According to police, a video shared on November 23, 2025, falsely named three individuals Yousuf, Mujahid and Ibrahim. The DCP stated that strict action will be taken against those responsible for spreading the misleading content as well as against anyone who files false allegations.
“We request media fraternity and the public to share only verified information. Do not spread false or misleading content,” the DCP said.
Police have urged citizens to be responsible while sharing content online, emphasizing that misinformation can harm innocent people and disrupt public order. Further investigation is underway to trace the origin of the fake video and take appropriate action.
