The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to issue the official gazette notification today for the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency bye-election, officially beginning the electoral process. Nominations will open immediately after the announcement.

Schedule & Key Dates

  • Nominations: October 13 to October 21 (until 3:00 pm). Forms must be submitted at the Returning Officer’s office in Shaikpet along with affidavits and required documents.
  • Scrutiny of Nominations: October 22.
  • Withdrawal Window: Until October 24.
  • Polling Date: November 11.
  • Counting of Votes: November 14.
  • Conclusion of Process: November 16.

Eligibility & Procedures

  • Candidates must file Form 2B (nomination) and Form 26 (affidavit), duly notarized.
  • Security Deposit: ₹10,000 for general category candidates and ₹5,000 for SC/ST candidates (with valid certification).
  • Minimum Age Requirement: 25 years.
  • Party candidates (from recognized parties) require one proposer, while independent candidates must have ten proposers from within the constituency.
  • Nominations will not be accepted on designated public holidays (October 19 and 20).

Preparations & Oversight

  • The District Election Officer and Returning Officer’s office in Shaikpet have completed all arrangements to facilitate a smooth filing and verification process.
  • Sanjiv Kumar Lal, an IRS officer from the 2014 batch, has been appointed as the Expenditure Observer to monitor campaign spending and ensure compliance with ECI norms.
  • To improve voter clarity, the ECI will print colour photographs of candidates on ballots and EVM overlays, helping voters easily identify candidates.
