Political Clash Heats Up in Telangana: CM Revanth Reddy Targets KCR and BRS

Political Clash Heats Up in Telangana

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sharply criticised former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) declaring that they will become “History” after the next assembly elections and predicting strong electoral success for the Congress party.

Addressing a public meeting of newly elected sarpanches and ward members in the Kodangal area, Revanth Reddy challenged KCR’s leadership and vowed that as long as he remains in politics, he would not allow the Kalvakuntla family which leads the BRS to return to power in Telangana. He asserted that the Congress party would secure a decisive victory in the 2029 assembly polls.

The Chief Minister projected that if the assembly continues with 119 seats the Congress would win around 87 seats. He further stated that if delimitation increases the total seats to 153, his party would capture about 100 seats ensuring another term in government.

Revanth Reddy accused the BRS and its leadership of past misgovernance, saying they failed to complete key irrigation projects particularly the Palamuru Rangareddy lift scheme during their decade long rule. He claimed that the Congress government is working to restart neglected projects and deliver welfare schemes such as free rice distribution, 200 units of free electricity, free RTC bus travel for women and expanded midday meal programmes in schools.

In his remarks, the Chief Minister also addressed comments made by KCR in recent days, challenging him to participate in a constructive debate on major issues like Krishna and Godavari river water sharing, the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, and the ongoing phone tapping investigation.

Revanth Reddy dismissed allegations levelled against him regarding involvement in real estate or passport rackets, reaffirming his commitment to development and non-vindictive politics. He emphasised that political rivalries should remain confined to elections and urged leaders to focus on governance and development after polls.

The exchange has sparked intense reactions within Telangana’s political circles, intensifying the competition between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS ahead of future elections.
