Owaisi Appeals to All Voters Ahead of Assam Polls

Owaisi Appeals to All Voters f Assam Polls

The Assam Assembly Election 2026 is around the corner, with polling scheduled for 9 April and vote counting on 4 May. All 126 assembly seats will go to the polls in a single phase and political activity across the state is heating up.

Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has been campaigning in Assam, calling on both Hindu and Muslim voters to consider supporting the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) candidates. Speaking at rallies across key districts, Owaisi emphasized the importance of unity among communities and active participation in the democratic process.

Owaisi praised AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal as a strong voice for minorities in Assam. He said that voters should think about the long term impact of the elections on the state’s social and political future. His speeches come at a time when all eyes are on how minority votes could influence results, especially in constituencies with closely contested races.

The ruling BJP and opposition Congress have responded strongly. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accused Owaisi of promoting divisive politics and criticized his focus on community based appeals. The debate over minority influence, particularly among Muslim voters, has become a central theme of the election campaign.

Political analysts note that the Muslim electorate, which forms a significant part of Assam’s population, could play a decisive role in several important constituencies. With Owaisi’s active campaigning and AIUDF’s statewide strategy, the April 9 polls are expected to be closely watched across India for signals of shifting political loyalties.

As voters prepare to head to the polls, the focus remains on turnout, minority voting patterns and whether AIUDF, with Owaisi’s support, can convert this into electoral success. The results on 4 May will reveal the state’s political direction for the next five years.
