Hyderabad North Zone Police Hold Major Review Meeting

The Hyderabad City Police today convened a comprehensive review meeting with hotel and lodge owners and managers operating within the North Zone of the city. The meeting was chaired by S. Rashmi Perumal, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, acting under the direction of V. C. Sajjanar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad.

More than 100 proprietors and managers of hotels and lodges took part, alongside senior officers including the Assistant Commissioner of Police for Gopalapuram Division and Station House Officers (SHOs) from multiple police stations in the zone.

Key Focus of the Meeting

The gathering was aimed at reinforcing compliance with key statutes and regulations, including:

  • The Telangana State Public Safety Act, trade licence rules and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
  • Preventing misuse of Hotel and Lodge premises for illegal activities such as drug trafficking, prostitution and unauthorized gatherings.
  • Strengthening coordination between hospitality establishments and law enforcement to maintain city security and public safety.

Directives Issued to Owners & Managers

During the meeting, several explicit instructions were emphasized:

  • Maintain an updated visitor register and submit daily entries to the local police station.
  • Verify and retain valid ID proofs of all guests staying in the establishment.
  • Ensure installation of CCTV systems with adequate backup storage and full functioning status.
  • Promptly inform and seek permission from local police authorities before hosting any events or gatherings on the premises.
  • Deploy sufficient security measures, including guards and scanners and ensure that premises are not used for illegal activities.

Deputy Commissioner Perumal cautioned that any negligence or violation of the rules that results in a threat to public safety or misuse of the premises for illicit purposes would attract stringent legal action.

The meeting underscores the Hyderabad Police’s proactive stance toward regulating hospitality establishments, given the role such places can play in ensuring public safety. DCP Perumal emphasized that hotels and lodges must function as Responsible stakeholders in maintaining the city’s reputation as a safe and secure destination.

Establishments in the North Zone are now expected to review their internal compliance mechanisms, visitor monitoring processes, event protocols and coordination with law enforcement. The police have signaled follow up inspections and audits to ensure strict adherence.
