At just 21 years old, Muskan Begum from Hyderabad has achieved what many only dream of becoming a licensed commercial pilot. Trained in Cape Town, South Africa, her journey is a remarkable story of ambition, determination, and breaking societal barriers.
Early Life & Dream
Born in 2004 in Hyderabad, Muskan grew up in a modest, supportive family. Her father works in Doha, Qatar and her mother is a homemaker. From a young age, she was fascinated by airplanes. At nine, she would accompany her mother to the airport to see off her father, mesmerized by the sight of planes taking off. That was when her dream of flying began.
She excelled in school, especially in science and mathematics, laying the foundation for a future in aviation.
Training and Challenges
Muskan pursued her dream with determination. In 2023, she enrolled at the 4 Aviators Flying School in Cape Town, South Africa, where she completed both theoretical and practical training. Logging over 250 hours of flight time in Cessna 172 aircraft, she mastered standard maneuvers, emergency procedures, and complex instrument conditions.
Her journey was not easy. Living abroad, handling responsibilities alone, and training in a male dominated field while wearing a hijab posed challenges. Yet, she faced them all with resilience, supported by her family’s encouragement.
Breaking Stereotypes
Muskan’s achievement is more than personal success it is a story of breaking stereotypes. As a young hijabi woman in aviation, she has shown that passion and dedication can overcome societal barriers, inspiring countless young women to pursue careers in aviation and other traditionally male dominated fields.

Her accomplishment has been widely recognized, including by AIMIM Chief and Parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi. Meeting Muskan at the AIMIM headquarters in Hyderabad, Owaisi congratulated her on becoming a licensed commercial pilot. Future Aspirations
Currently, Muskan is pursuing instructor training at her flying school to gain further experience and flight hours. She plans to join airlines in the future, continuing her journey in aviation. Reflecting on her success, Muskan says:
