Mr. Minhaj Akhtar Warns of U.S. ICE Activity Near Glenlake and Fairfield School Zone

Chicago: Prominent social worker and community activist Mr. Minhaj Akhtar has issued a strong message of caution for residents of Chicago, particularly around the Glenlake and Fairfield area, after reports surfaced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials were seen in the vicinity a location that also includes a local school zone.

Concern for Parents and Families

According to Mr. Akhtar’s public statement shared on social media, ICE authorities have reportedly set up an operational spot near Glenlake and Fairfield, an area where parents frequently drop off and pick up their children.

He urged local families especially those belonging to immigrant backgrounds to remain calm but careful, avoiding unnecessary gatherings and staying aware of their surroundings.

“This is not just a normal day. Parents must be alert when dropping or picking up their kids. The situation is getting worse and could become horrible if ignored,”
Mr. Minhaj Akhtar, Chicago based community leader.

Mr. Akhtar’s Appeal for Responsibility and Support

Minhaj Akhtar, known for his humanitarian and immigrant support initiatives, called upon Local Authorities, Community Leaders and Schools to ensure that children’s safety and public order remain the top priority.

Community Caution Around School Vicinity

Mr. Akhtar’s concern arises from the timing of the ICE presence, which reportedly coincides with school operational hours. Many families, particularly those from immigrant or mixed status households, fear sudden questioning or intimidation during their daily routines.

He urged residents to stay calm, cooperate with legal guidelines and avoid spreading fear, while also calling for greater communication between schools, parents, and local officials.

Awareness Message for Chicago Residents

While there has been no official confirmation from ICE regarding any active operation in the area, the community alert aims to promote Awareness, Safety and Preparedness.

Residents are advised to:

  • Stay informed through official local updates.
  • Keep identification documents ready but avoid unnecessary panic.
  • Refrain from sharing unverified social media videos that may spread fear.
  • Contact local immigrant support helplines for legal guidance if necessary.

A Message of Unity and Humanity

Mr. Akhtar concluded his message by urging Chicagoans to look out for one another, regardless of background or status.

“This city has always stood for unity. Fear divides us, but awareness protects us,” he said.

His statement has since gone viral among community groups, being widely shared as a reminder for compassion, safety and preparedness amid growing uncertainty.
