HONG KONG: Hong Kong firefighters are still battling a devastating blaze that tore through multiple high rise residential towers in the Wang Fuk Court housing estate located in Tai Po District. The fire has claimed at least 55 lives, injured more than 70 people, and left nearly 300 residents unaccounted for, triggering massive rescue and relief operations.
What Happened?
The fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon, starting from exterior scaffolding on one of the towers undergoing renovation. Within minutes, flames spread rapidly across the Plastic netted construction sheets and foam insulation, engulfing several 31 storey buildings in the complex.
