Police in Secunderabad have arrested a 22 year old man in connection with the alleged abetment of suicide of a 19 year old woman, following claims of sustained mental harassment.
According to officials from Chilkalguda Police Station, the victim, identified as G. Janimma, was found dead at her residence on March 17. Authorities state that a case has been registered under relevant legal provisions after preliminary findings suggested emotional distress linked to her personal relationship.
The accused, P. Jagadeesh, a resident of Musheerabad in Hyderabad, was taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police sources indicate that the victim and the accused had been in a relationship for several months, during which frequent disputes reportedly occurred. Investigators allege that the accused subjected the victim to repeated mental pressure, including verbal abuse, suspicion about her character, and threats to disclose their relationship to her family.
On the morning of March 17, an argument reportedly took place at the victim’s residence around 8:00 AM. Officials say the accused left shortly after, and within minutes, the victim shared a distress message indicating her emotional state. She was later found dead by suicide at approximately 8:20 AM.
During the investigation, authorities recovered digital evidence, including conversations from the mobile app Instagram, which they say support allegations of harassment and emotional strain. The accused’s mobile phone has been seized and data is being analyzed as part of the probe.
Police stated that further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and determine the extent of involvement.
