Domestic cooking gas prices in India have increased following volatility in global energy markets triggered by rising tensions in the Middle East. The price revision comes amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States, which has raised concerns about fuel supply and shipping routes.
Oil marketing companies announced that the price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹60. Following the revision, the price of a household LPG cylinder in New Delhi has risen from about ₹853 to around ₹913.
Commercial cylinders used by hotels, restaurants, and small businesses have seen a larger increase. The 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder price has gone up by about ₹115, taking the new price to roughly ₹1,883 in New Delhi.
Energy analysts say the increase reflects rising global fuel costs as geopolitical tensions threaten supply routes in West Asia. India imports a significant portion of its LPG from Gulf countries, making domestic prices sensitive to international market fluctuations.
Experts warn that if instability in the Middle East continues, global crude oil and gas prices could remain volatile. This may lead to further adjustments in fuel prices, potentially affecting household expenses, transportation costs and inflation across the country.
