Indian Embassy in Tehran Reiterates Call for Citizens to Leave Iran

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has reiterated an urgent advisory asking all Indian nationals currently in Iran to leave the country at the earliest due to the evolving security situation.

In a fresh communication, the embassy urged Indian citizens to depart using available means of transport, including commercial flights, as regional tensions and internal developments continue to raise safety concerns. The advisory applies to all Indians in Iran, Including students, Professionals, Pilgrims, Business travellers and Tourists.

Key Points of the Advisory:

  • Immediate departure: Indian nationals have been advised to leave Iran as soon as possible using available transport options.
  • Avoid unsafe areas: Citizens were asked to stay away from locations witnessing protests, demonstrations or any form of unrest.
  • Remain in contact: The embassy urged people to stay in touch with the mission and closely monitor official updates.
  • Keep documents ready: Indians were advised to keep passports, visas and other identification papers readily accessible.
  • Emergency assistance: Helpline numbers and email support have been activated to provide help in urgent situations.

The advisory follows earlier warnings issued this year and reflects heightened concern over the changing security environment in and around Iran. While no formal evacuation operation has been announced so far, the embassy’s repeated message signals the need for precautionary action to ensure the safety of Indian nationals.

Indian citizens who have not yet registered with the embassy have been encouraged to do so at the earliest. Family members in India have also been asked to assist in registration if communication from within Iran is disrupted.

The Government of India said it is closely monitoring developments and will continue to issue updates as necessary. Citizens remaining in Iran have been urged to stay alert, limit movement, and strictly follow guidance issued by the Indian mission.
