India Celebrates 77th Republic Day

New Delhi: India marked its 77th Republic Day with a spectacular parade at Kartavya Path in the national capital, highlighting the country’s military preparedness, technological progress, and rich cultural diversity. The event reflected both India’s strategic strength and its commitment to unity in diversity.

This year’s parade followed a new “phased battle array” format, in which different branches of the armed forces displayed their operational readiness in a coordinated manner. The Indian Army, Navy and Air Force presented integrated combat formations, demonstrating modern warfare capabilities and joint force coordination.

The Indian Air Force’s flypast remained one of the key attractions of the ceremony. Advanced fighter aircraft, transport planes, and helicopters flew in precise formations across the sky, drawing applause from spectators lining Kartavya Path. The flypast symbolised air power, disaster-response readiness, and technological advancement.

Alongside the military display, colourful cultural tableaux from various states and Union Territories showcased India’s traditions, folk art, and development themes. Performers dressed in traditional attire presented dances and music that represented the country’s linguistic and cultural variety, reinforcing the spirit of national unity.

Indigenous defence equipment also took centre stage, reflecting India’s growing focus on self-reliance in the defence sector. Several domestically developed systems were displayed, underlining progress under the “Make in India” initiative.

The parade concluded with a coordinated salute from all contingents, symbolising harmony between India’s defence forces and its civilian institutions. School children, NCC cadets, and women contingents also participated, emphasising youth involvement and gender inclusion.

Security across the capital remained tight throughout the celebrations, with multi-layered arrangements ensuring a smooth and peaceful event.

The 77th Republic Day celebrations served as a reminder of India’s democratic foundations and its journey since adopting the Constitution in 1950. Through its blend of military precision and cultural expression, the parade highlighted both national pride and collective identity.
