India Advises All Its Citizens to Leave Iran Amid Rising Unrest

The Government of India has issued a formal advisory urging all Indian citizens in Iran to leave the country immediately due to the rapidly evolving and unstable security situation. The advisory affects students, tourists, businesspeople, pilgrims and persons of Indian origin (PIOs) residing in or traveling to Iran.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Embassy in Tehran have strongly recommended that Indian nationals avoid all travel to Iran until further notice. Citizens currently in the country are advised to use any available means of transport, including commercial flights, to return safely.

  • Avoid areas with protests, demonstrations, or gatherings, as tensions are high.
  • Stay in close contact with the Indian Embassy and register if not already done, to receive updates and assistance.
  • Keep identity and travel documents ready, and follow instructions from local authorities.

The advisory comes amid reports of large scale protests and unrest across Iran, raising concerns for the safety of foreign nationals. Other countries have also issued similar warnings to their citizens.

The Indian government has emphasized that the safety of its citizens is a top priority and urged all Indians in Iran to exercise extreme caution and follow official guidance while planning their departure.
