Imtiaz Jaleel Urges AIMIM Workers to Stay United Ahead of BMC

Mumbai: Ahead of the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and upcoming Maharashtra municipal corporator elections AIMIM Maharashtra President and former MP Imtiaz Jaleel has issued a strong appeal to party workers urging them to remain united and disciplined, irrespective of whether they receive an election ticket or not.

Addressing party cadres, Imtiaz Jaleel stressed that personal ambitions should not weaken the party’s collective strength, especially at a time when local body elections are drawing closer. He reminded workers that internal divisions in previous elections had cost the party politically and indirectly benefited rival forces.

“In past elections, differences within the party and lack of coordination helped opposition parties gain advantage. This should not be repeated,” Imtiaz Jaleel reportedly said. He cautioned AIMIM workers against working for other parties or weakening the party from within, calling such actions harmful to AIMIM’s long term political objectives.

The AIMIM leader conveyed a message of responsibility and political maturity stating that those who do not receive tickets must still work sincerely for the party’s official candidates. “Elections are not about individuals alone, they are about strengthening the party and representing the voice of the people” he emphasized.

With the BMC election expected to be one of the most competitive civic polls in Maharashtra, Imtiaz Jaleel underlined the importance of grassroots unity and disciplined campaigning. He urged local leaders and workers to focus on organizational growth, public outreach and highlighting AIMIM’s stance on civic issues rather than engaging in internal disputes.

Political observers note that Imtiaz Jaleel appeal reflects the party leadership’s intent to avoid repeating mistakes seen in earlier municipal elections where internal dissent reportedly weakened AIMIM’s performance in several constituencies. Similar concerns were raised after past elections in Bihar, where AIMIM candidates are said to have lost multiple seats by narrow margins with division of votes and lack of coordinated grassroots support proving costly for the party. Party leaders believe such setbacks underline the importance of unity and disciplined campaigning ahead of the upcoming civic polls in Maharashtra.

As Maharashtra heads into a critical phase of civic elections, AIMIM appears keen to project unity and seriousness, positioning itself as a focused political force rather than allowing internal rifts to overshadow its campaign.
