Imtiaz Jaleel Attacked in Maharashtra During Campaign

Former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel was attacked by a mob in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) Maharashtra, while campaigning for his party ahead of the upcoming civic elections.

What Happened

The incident occurred in the Jinsi area, where Imtiaz Jaleel had gone to support AIMIM candidates. A group of 30 – 35 people, allegedly supporters of a rival candidate, suddenly confronted him and his supporters.

As his convoy tried to move forward, the mob:

  • Surrounded his vehicle
  • Hit and punched the car
  • Threw eggs at the vehicle
  • Tried to block his movement

During the chaos, one AIMIM worker was injured. Imtiaz Jaleel narrowly escaped without physical harm.

Police Action

Police personnel present at the scene quickly intervened and used force to disperse the mob, restoring order in the area. Security was tightened immediately after the incident. Police have started the process of registering a case and are identifying those involved in the attack.

Political Allegations

After the incident, Imtiaz Jaleel made serious allegations, claiming the attack was politically motivated. He accused local leaders from major political parties of instigating the mob and named senior politicians, including state ministers, in his statement.

The leaders named by Jaleel denied the allegations, calling them false and politically driven.

Political Context

The attack comes at a time of intense political campaigning in Maharashtra, especially with municipal elections approaching. The incident has raised concerns over political violence and security of leaders during election campaigns.

Situation Under Control

Authorities said the situation is now under control, and further investigation is underway to determine responsibility and prevent such incidents in the future.
