IMD Issues Heatwave Alert for Parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

The India Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for several districts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as temperatures are expected to rise significantly over the coming days.

In Telangana, multiple districts including both urban and rural areas have been placed under heightened alert, with maximum temperatures forecast to reach 41°C to 44°C in some regions. Authorities have urged residents to stay vigilant, especially during peak afternoon hours, and to take precautions against heat related illnesses, including staying hydrated and avoiding direct sun exposure.

In Andhra Pradesh, inland areas are also likely to experience high temperatures and humidity, which can increase heat stress. Meteorologists have advised wearing light clothing, consuming plenty of fluids, and limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

Local authorities in both states are coordinating with health and disaster management departments to ensure public awareness and readiness as heatwave conditions develop. The IMD has highlighted that this alert is part of a broader seasonal trend of above normal heatwave days in southern India.
