In a major food safety crackdown, the Commissioner’s Task Force (Golconda Zone) along with Kulsumpura Police busted an illegal pickle manufacturing unit in Venkatesh Nagar, Jiyaguda, Hyderabad, and seized unhygienic stock worth ₹3 lakh.
The accused, K. Ravinder (62), was allegedly producing and supplying various types of pickles including red chilli, amla, tomato and lemon without a valid license and under unsafe, unhygienic conditions. Police said low quality raw materials and stale fruits preserved with rock salt were being used, posing serious health risks to consumers.
During the raid, officials seized large quantities of pickle drums and preserved stock, including chilli, mango, lemon and tomato based products. The items were reportedly being distributed to local kirana stores, restaurants, and hotels.
Acting on a tip off, the Task Force and local police conducted the operation under the supervision of senior officials. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and further investigation is underway.
Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against illegal food manufacturing units endangering public health.
