The Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a special enforcement drive against drunk driving on March 20-21, 2026, detecting a total of 343 offenders across the city.
According to officials, the majority of violations involved two wheeler riders (287 cases), followed by 24 three wheeler drivers and 32 four wheeler and other vehicle drivers.
Data from the drive revealed varying levels of blood alcohol concentration (BAC), with 71 cases recorded in the 30-50 range, 143 in 51-100, 77 in 101-150, 30 in 151-200, 14 in 201-250, and 8 cases exceeding 250, including 4 above 300 indicating severe intoxication.
Police reiterated a zero tolerance policy towards drunk driving, warning that strict action will continue against violators. Authorities also urged commuters to follow traffic rules and cooperate in ensuring safer roads, adding that similar enforcement drives will be carried out regularly.
