Hyderabad: In a move aimed at strengthening its global tech identity, the Telangana government has decided to name several major roads in Hyderabad after leading multinational technology companies, including Google and Meta. The initiative is part of the state’s broader strategy to brand the capital as an “Innovation City” and attract greater international investment.
According to officials, the decision aligns with Hyderabad’s rapid expansion as a global technology hub, home to major campuses of Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Apple, Salesforce and several other tech leaders. Renaming key stretches near IT clusters is expected to enhance the city’s international branding and reflect the companies significant presence in the region.
The proposed roads are mainly located in areas such as Gachibowli, HITEC City, Kokapet and the Financial District localities that house thousands of IT professionals and some of India’s largest tech parks.
Government sources say the move will also strengthen partnerships with global corporations and help position Hyderabad as a preferred destination for innovation, emerging technologies and startup ecosystems.
Officials emphasized that naming roads after multinational companies is not merely symbolic. It is part of a larger vision to highlight Hyderabad’s role in India’s digital economy, promote global visibility, and attract top tier tech conferences, research centers and venture capital investment.
The state government is expected to formally unveil the renamed roads in a public event soon, alongside announcements of additional infrastructure initiatives to support the city’s fast growing tech sector.
