Police in Hyderabad have solved two shocking “Murder for gain” cases involving the abduction and killing of elderly women, arresting a 29 year old suspect linked to both crimes.
According to officials, the cases were initially registered as missing persons complaints at Film Nagar Police Station and Jubilee Hills Police Station. However, as the investigation progressed, they were reclassified under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after evidence pointed to foul play.
The accused, identified as Kunasani Vasu, a car driver residing in Jubilee Hills, was arrested on March 31, 2026.
Police said CCTV footage and technical analysis played a key role in tracking the suspect. He was last seen taking one of the victims on a two wheeler, which raised suspicion and led to further investigation.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to targeting elderly women known to him. He would gain their trust and lure them to isolated areas, where he strangled them using a rope and robbed them of gold ornaments. The bodies were later disposed of in secluded locations.
Investigators revealed that the stolen valuables were either sold or pledged to repay debts incurred through online betting.
The victims have been identified as Boinapally Yadamma (70) and Mangamma (56). Police recovered key evidence including a rope, vehicles and a mobile phone used in the crimes.
The accused has been produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Officials from the Jubilee Hills Zone confirmed that further investigation is ongoing.
