Hyderabad Police Invoke PD Act Against Habitual Offender

The Hyderabad City Police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against a notorious rowdy sheeter, Mir Akbar Ali (32), for his continued involvement in serious criminal activities that pose a threat to public order.

Acting on the orders of Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, the PD Act was enforced to prevent the accused from further engaging in criminal acts. Mir Akbar Ali, a resident of Ganga Nagar Nala in Yakuthpura and a DCM driver by profession, is a habitual offender with a long criminal history.

Police records show that he has been involved in at least 25 criminal cases, including grave offences such as murder, attempt to murder, robbery, and violations of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. Officials said this is the third time the PD Act has been invoked against him, as he had earlier been detained twice under the same law.

In recent incidents, the Rein Bazar Police registered multiple cases against him. These include a case under sections 118(1), 352 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), another case under the NDPS Act, and a third case registered under sections 324(4), 329(4), 351(3) of BNS along with Section 25(1) of the Indian Arms Act.

Following the issuance of the detention orders, Mir Akbar Ali was shifted to Chanchalguda Central Prison for preventive custody.

The Hyderabad City Police stated that strict action will continue against habitual offenders and anti-social elements who disrupt public peace and safety. Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens.
