Harish Rao Questions Absence of Education Experts in Telangana

Senior BRS leader Harish Rao has raised concerns over the composition of the newly formed Telangana Education Commission, questioning why experienced education experts were not included in the panel.

Speaking to the media, Harish Rao said a commission tasked with shaping the future of education in the state must be guided by professionals with academic and administrative expertise. He argued that excluding educationists could weaken the quality of policy recommendations and reduce the commission’s effectiveness in addressing challenges faced by Students, Teachers and Institutions.

The Telangana Education Commission was constituted by the state government to review the existing education system and suggest reforms aimed at improving learning outcomes and infrastructure. However, Harish Rao alleged that the panel appears to be dominated by bureaucratic and non-academic members, raising doubts about its ability to deliver meaningful educational reforms.

He also criticised the government for not consulting universities, teachers associations and subject specialists while forming the commission. According to him, inclusive representation of education professionals would ensure that policies are grounded in classroom realities and long-term academic planning.

The BRS leader urged the state government to reconstitute the commission by including eminent educationists, researchers and former vice chancellors. He said such a step would strengthen public confidence and help the commission function independently and credibly.

Government sources have maintained that the commission will consult experts during its work and consider inputs from multiple stakeholders before finalising its recommendations.

The issue has triggered political debate, with opposition parties demanding greater transparency and professional representation in bodies that influence public education policy.
