Gudimalkapur Police Bust Counterfeit Currency Racket, Three Arrested in Hyderabad

Gudimalkapur Police have arrested three persons in connection with a counterfeit currency racket following a raid at Avalon Apartments in Nanal Nagar, Hyderabad. The arrests were made based on credible intelligence inputs regarding the exchange of fake Indian currency notes.

The accused have been identified as:

  • Babulal Jatkukna (23), son of Rameshwarlal, engaged in private work and a resident of Rajasthan
  • Dharmveer (22), son of Baburam, a student and resident of Rajasthan
  • Aweys Hersi Salad (30), son of Salad, a student residing at Paramount Colony, Tolichowki, Hyderabad, and a native of Kenya

Police officials stated that other associates involved in the racket are currently absconding.

During the operation, police found the accused engaged in an argument over counterfeit currency, which raised suspicion and led to their detention. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that Babulal and Dharmveer had travelled from Rajasthan to Hyderabad to deliver fake ₹500 denomination notes to Aweys Hersi Salad, who was acting as the receiver.

A search conducted at the spot led to the seizure of 8½ packets containing 10 bundles of counterfeit ₹500 notes, along with four mobile phones and a Honda Dio motorcycle bearing registration number TG 07 N 4481.

A case has been registered as Crime No. 20/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Gudimalkapur Police Station. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the counterfeit currency and nab other individuals linked to the racket.

Police have assured that strict action will be taken against all those involved in the illegal operation.
