Government Message for Diwali 2025 Stay Safe, Celebrate Responsibly

As the Festival of Lights envelops our homes and hearts, we wish every citizen a joyous and peaceful celebration. In preparation for the upcoming Diwali, the government and civic agencies have put in place several arrangements to ensure your safety, health and well being. At the same time, we appeal to you to join us in celebrating responsibly and thoughtfully.

Key Arrangements Made by Authorities

  • Additional police and traffic personnel have been deployed in busy markets, transport hubs and high foot traffic zones to maintain law and order and smooth traffic flow.
  • Fire services, ambulance and emergency response units are on high alert 24×7 ready to respond to fire hazards, burn injuries and other urgent incidents.
  • Municipal and environmental departments have issued guidelines for decoration, lights, waste management and fire cracker usage especially in vulnerable neighbourhoods and high rise complexes.
  • The sale of certified “green” fire crackers (low noise, low pollution) has been permitted under regulated hours, unlicensed vendors and storage are being checked.
  • Public health advisories have been issued: hospitals and burn units are prepared; home owners are urged to prepare safe spaces, children and elderly persons are given special consideration.

Public Awareness Guidelines What You Can Do

  • Use only certified fire crackers or consider alternatives like LED lights, diyas and rangoli. When using crackers, do so in open spaces, with adult supervision and keep a bucket of water or sand nearby.
  • Wear natural fibre clothing (like cotton), keep children away from ignitions and avoid burst zones near balconies, staircases, trees or vehicles.
  • Please follow the permitted time windows for bursting fire crackers (specifically communicated by local authorities) and respect neighbours, elders and animals by controlling noise levels.
  • Home safety: if you are travelling, avoid posting live travel updates on social media to reduce theft risk, lock valuables, inform neighbours or police your absence.
  • Environment care: Do not throw hot ashes or used fire crackers into drains or open water channels; dispose of waste after celebrations neatly, and help reduce air-pollution by choosing low emission options.
  • Road safety: On Diwali night expect heightened traffic. Use public transport where possible, avoid drunken driving, ensure helmets and seat belts are used on two wheelers and cars.
  • First aid readiness: Keep a basic first aid kit. In case of burns: cool the area with running water, do not apply ointments or home remedies without medical advice seek medical attention if necessary.

In Closing

Diwali is a time to light up lives with joy, hope and harmony. Let us make this year’s celebrations memorable for the right reasons by ensuring safety, kindness and respect. May your homes shine bright, and your hearts shine brighter.

Wishing you a Happy & Safe Diwali!
