Telangana police, including the EAGLE Force (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement), have arrested four drug peddlers in two separate ganja smuggling cases and seized a total of 29 kg of ganja valued at around ₹14.5 lakh.
First Case – Hyderabad Bust
In Hyderabad, the EAGLE Force, working with Kukatpally police and the Cyberabad clues team, intercepted two men identified as Sachin Dilip Ranavare (37) and Laukik Ganesh Raut (21) near the Kukatpally – Miyapur stretch.
- The accused were preparing to board a bus with 21 kg of ganja hidden in travel bags.
- Officials said the contraband was sourced from Berhampur in Odisha and intended to be transported to Pune for distribution.
- Ranavare has a previous arrest record for a similar offence in July 2025 and had been released on bail in December 2025.
- Both men, along with the seized cannabis, were handed over to Kukatpally police for further legal action.
Second Case – Mahabubabad Arrests
In a separate operation at the Mahabubabad bus station, the Warangal EAGLE Force and Mahabubabad town police arrested Venu and Anil, both 25 years old, with 8 kg of ganja worth about ₹4 lakh.
- Police said the duo were known addicts with previous involvement in narcotics, and were acting on directions from an alleged mastermind identified as Naveen from Karimnagar.
- Investigators believe Naveen sourced the ganja from Kalimela in Odisha’s Malkangiri district and used unemployed youths to transport it.
- A search has been launched to apprehend Naveen and dismantle the wider supply network.
Police Action and Investigation
Authorities described the operations as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on interstate drug trafficking. The EAGLE Force and local police are intensifying investigations to trace supply chains, identify accomplices and curb the distribution of narcotics across state lines.
