New Delhi: The Delhi Police have dismantled a terror module allegedly linked to the Pakistan based militant group Lashkar E Taiba, arresting eight suspects in coordinated raids across Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
According to senior police officials, the arrested individuals were part of a network that had been actively working to radicalize youth, raise funds, and establish sleeper cells in different parts of India. The operation was carried out following months of surveillance and intelligence gathering by special units of the Delhi Police.
Investigators said the suspects were in contact with handlers based abroad through encrypted messaging platforms. The group is believed to have received instructions to recruit vulnerable individuals and prepare them for potential attacks on sensitive targets. Digital devices, documents, and other materials linked to extremist propaganda were seized during the raids.
Police sources revealed that some of the accused had recently traveled within the country to expand their network and arrange logistics. Financial transactions connected to the group are also under scrutiny to trace possible foreign funding and local support channels.
Officials confirmed that the accused have been brought to Delhi for further questioning and will be produced before a court. Multiple cases have been registered under relevant sections of anti terror and criminal laws.
Security agencies described the arrests as a major breakthrough in preventing possible terror incidents and reaffirmed their commitment to monitoring and neutralizing extremist threats. Authorities have also urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
Further investigations are ongoing to identify additional members of the network and determine whether the group had specific targets in mind.
