Hyderabad: Dengue cases have significantly declined across Telangana this year, according to official data. However, a slight increase has been noted within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha credited the decline to preventive measures taken by the Health Department. During a high-level review meeting on seasonal diseases, officials reported fewer dengue and typhoid cases in most districts compared to last year, with fewer than 10 dengue cases in 19 districts.
To curb the rise in GHMC zones, the Minister instructed the appointment of Special Officers in high-risk areas and emphasized door-to-door surveys, awareness campaigns, and readiness of medical facilities. Strict action has also been ordered against private hospitals overcharging for platelet treatments.
