As Cyclone Ditwah intensifies over the southwest Bay of Bengal and moves toward the Tamil Nadu Puducherry South Andhra coast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has clarified that Telangana will not face any major impact, including the “Cool waves” that often accompany powerful cyclonic systems near coastal regions.
Light Rain Likely on November 30 December 1
The IMD forecast indicates that parts of Telangana may experience Light to moderate rain, with Isolated heavy showers possible in a few districts on November 30 and December 1. Eastern and southern districts such as Khammam, Nalgonda, Warangal and Suryapet are more likely to see brief spells of rain.
Hyderabad is expected to remain mostly dry, with the possibility of Cloudy skies but No significant rainfall.
No Cool Waves Expected in Telangana
Addressing public speculation, weather officials confirmed that the state Will not experience any cool waves or drastic temperature drops due to the cyclone.
Cyclonic systems typically bring cool winds only to regions Close to their landfall zone, Where cloud cover, Continuous rain and Moist winds lower temperatures.
Since Telangana is Far from the cyclone’s core, these cooling effects will Not reach the state.
Telangana May Turn Slightly Warmer
Instead of cooling, some regions especially Hyderabad and central Telangana may experience a Slight rise in daytime temperatures.
This is because the cyclone pulls moisture and shifts wind patterns, allowing dry, warm continental air to dominate the interior parts of South India.
Night temperatures will remain normal for the season, but No winter like chill is expected from the cyclone’s influence.
Localised Issues Possible
While no major impact is forecast, authorities caution that isolated rainfall may lead to:
- Temporary waterlogging
- Traffic slowdowns
- Lightning and thunder
- Minor disruptions in low lying areas
Disaster management teams advise citizens to stay alert during evening thunderstorms.
No Threat from Cyclonic Winds
The IMD emphasized that Telangana will not experience strong winds or storm-like conditions, which are confined to the coastal belt of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Andhra Pradesh where red and orange alerts have been issued.
Weather to Normalise by December 2
Forecasters expect Telangana’s weather to stabilise once the cyclone weakens after landfall and loses strength inland. Normal winter conditions are likely to return by December 2.
