In a shocking case of law enforcement impersonation, a woman identified as Uma Bharathi has been arrested after allegedly posing as a police officer for months. According to sources, the accused had been accompanying official police teams during operations, wearing a complete khaki uniform, and even delivering Cybercrime awareness lectures under the guise of being a trained officer.
Accused Actively Participated in Police Activities
Officials revealed that Bharathi reportedly moved freely within police circles, gaining access to Official meetings, Awareness campaigns and Public outreach events. Her confident behavior and uniform allegedly helped her avoid suspicion for a considerable period.
Impersonation Exposed
The impersonation came to light when documentation and credentials were requested during a formal event. Unable to provide valid proof of police training or service identity, Bharathi was detained on suspicion, later leading to a full investigation.
Charges and Investigation
Authorities stated that a case has been filed under multiple sections for Impersonation, unauthorized use of police uniform and misleading the public. Investigators are now probing whether her actions influenced any official police procedures or compromised sensitive information.
Police Issue Public Advisory
Following the incident, officials urged the public and private organizations to verify identity cards and credentials before allowing participation in security or awareness programs.
“Uniform alone is not authority. Authenticate certificates and ID cards before inviting anyone for official events,” a senior officer advised.
