A court in L.B. Nagar has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a rape and criminal intimidation case.
The XIII Additional District and Sessions Court, presided over by Judge M. Vani, delivered the verdict after a full trial. The accused, a 40-year-old resident of Mailardevpally, was found guilty based on the evidence presented by the prosecution.
According to the case details, the incident took place on June 15, 2018. The accused allegedly entered the victim’s house on the pretext of asking for food. Finding her alone, he locked the door, assaulted her and later threatened her with death if she spoke about the incident.
The court convicted him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for rape and criminal intimidation. Along with the prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of ₹5,100.
The judge also ordered that ₹3 lakh be paid to the victim as compensation.
The case highlights the importance of legal action in serious crimes and the role of courts in delivering justice after due process.
