Counselling and Welfare Programme Held for Rowdy Sheeters in Hyderabad

A counselling and welfare programme for rowdy sheeters and their families was conducted under the jurisdiction of the Kalapathar and Kamatipura Police Stations, under the supervision of Sri Srinivas Garu, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajendranagar Zone, in Hyderabad.

During the programme, the DCP interacted directly with the individuals and their family members and encouraged them to abandon unlawful activities and adopt disciplined, socially responsible lifestyles. He stressed the importance of reintegrating into mainstream society through lawful employment and positive conduct.

The police assured participants of full support for their rehabilitation and reform. As part of the welfare initiative, ration kits were distributed to 19 families to help meet their basic needs. Authorities also facilitated admissions for interested children into residential schools to ensure access to education and a stable environment.

In addition, awareness was created about various government welfare schemes available for eligible families, with officials guiding them on how to access these benefits. The initiative aimed to address both behavioural reform and socio economic support, recognizing the role of family stability in preventing repeat offences.

Police officials said the programme reflects a proactive approach toward crime prevention by focusing on counselling, rehabilitation, and community engagement rather than punishment alone. Similar initiatives are expected to be conducted periodically in other parts of the city to promote long-term social reform and public safety.
