In a significant boost for the ruling Congress government in Telangana, V. Naveen Yadav has won the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, securing victory with an impressive margin of around 24,658 votes over his nearest rival. The result further strengthens Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s political standing in one of Hyderabad’s most influential constituencies.
Naveen Yadav maintained a commanding lead from the very first round of counting. His closest competitor, Maganti Sunitha Gopinath of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), trailed consistently throughout the day, while BJP candidate Deepak Reddy Lankala finished a distant third.
The by-election was necessitated by a vacancy in the constituency and became a major test of strength for all key political players Congress, BRS, BJP Despite the high profile contest, voter turnout remained around 47%, reflecting typical urban polling patterns.
Congress leaders celebrated the victory, calling it “a strong endorsement of the government’s governance model and welfare initiatives.” Jubilant party workers gathered across Jubilee Hills to celebrate Yadav’s win and express support for the chief minister.
The outcome deals another blow to the BRS, which has been attempting to regain lost political ground in Telangana, while the BJP continues to struggle for relevance in Hyderabad’s urban constituencies.
With this decisive victory, Congress has tightened its hold over the capital city and further consolidated its strength in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
