Kamareddy, Telangana A dispute over the playing of music inside a supermarket in Banswada escalated into a communal clash on Saturday, leaving two police personnel injured and resulting in the arrest of 12 people, officials said.

The incident began as an argument between two groups of customers over the type and volume of music being played at the store. The verbal confrontation soon turned violent, drawing in more people from nearby areas and leading to stone pelting and damage to property.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving emergency calls and attempted to disperse the crowd. During the intervention, two officers sustained injuries while trying to control the situation and restore order. They were shifted to a nearby hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Additional forces were deployed in the area to prevent further escalation. Senior officials from the Telangana Police said the situation was brought under control within a short time and normalcy was restored.

Authorities confirmed that 12 individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the violence. Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law for rioting, unlawful assembly, and causing harm to public servants. CCTV footage from the supermarket and surrounding areas is being examined to identify others who may have been involved.

Local administration has appealed to residents to maintain peace and not spread rumours on social media. Police have also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb communal harmony.

Security has been tightened in sensitive localities of the town, and patrolling has been intensified to ensure the incident does not trigger further unrest.
