AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi offered a strong and critical response to the three bills introduced in the Lok Sabha. These included the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
He characterized the bills as fundamentally harmful to democratic principles. Stating that they violate the separation of powers, he argued that they empower executive agencies to act as “judge, jury, and executioner” based on mere allegations or suspicion. He warned that such measures could severely erode the constitutionally mandated balance of power.
Mr. Owaisi went further to label the proposed legislation a deliberate move to turn India into a “Police State”, asserting that they represent the “death knell for elected governments.” He also emphasized that these bills undermine federalism and the right of the people to elect their leaders, referencing the arrests of political figures like N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hemant Soren, and Arvind Kejriwal as examples of their potential misuse.
Summarizing his stance, he declared:
“I am opposing the very introduction of these bills. Their passage would erode federalism and undermine the authority of elected governments.”
