The All India Majlis E Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has invited applications from aspiring candidates to contest the upcoming municipal and municipal corporation elections in Telangana. The move comes amid the party’s renewed confidence following its recent electoral gains in Maharashtra civic polls.
According to party sources, the Telangana civic elections are expected to be held in mid February 2026. AIMIM has asked interested candidates to download the application form from the party’s official platforms and submit it to their respective town or city Majlis presidents.
Applicants are required to submit a non-refundable demand draft of ₹3,000 along with the completed application form. The deadline for submission has been fixed as January 20, 2026.
Party leaders have instructed that no premature announcements or claims regarding candidature should be made at the local level. The final list of candidates will be officially announced by AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi after scrutiny of applications.
AIMIM has also made it clear that it plans to contest the Telangana civic polls independently, though the possibility of post poll or issue based alliances may be considered later.
The party’s decision is being viewed as an attempt to build on its recent electoral momentum and strengthen its presence in urban local bodies across Telangana.
