Adulterated Pickle Unit Busted in Hyderabad

Police in Hyderabad have uncovered an illegal and unhygienic pickle manufacturing unit in the Jiyaguda area, arresting two individuals for allegedly producing and selling adulterated food products without a valid license.

The operation was carried out by Kulsumpura Police during routine patrolling on March 18. Officials inspected a godown in Venkateshwara Nagar, where they found a large scale pickle production setup operating under poor sanitary conditions.

According to police, the accused were using spoiled vegetables and low quality raw materials to prepare pickles, which were then supplied to local shops at low prices. Authorities warned that such products pose serious health risks to consumers.

During the raid, police seized 72 drums of various pickles, including lemon, red chilli, tamarind, amla and sorrel varieties, along with drums of tomato and tamarind paste, ginger garlic paste and a weighing machine.

The arrested individuals have been identified as local residents engaged in the business. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway.

Police have advised the public to remain cautious while purchasing food items, especially those sold at unusually low prices or without proper labeling and certification.
