Adulterated Paneer Racket Busted in Hyderabad

In a major food safety crackdown, a task force team in Hyderabad has busted an alleged adulterated paneer racket and arrested six individuals during a surprise inspection near Ganj Bazar in Secunderabad.

The operation was carried out by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairtabad Zone, in coordination with officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Authorities inspected multiple wholesale and retail establishments operating under the limits of Mahankali Police Station.

During the raid, officials found that the accused were allegedly involved in procuring and selling adulterated and unhygienic paneer and other dairy products sourced from unknown origins. These products were reportedly being sold in bulk to catering services, hotels, and local customers while being falsely marketed as quality paneer.

Inspectors noted serious hygiene violations, with dairy items stored in open plastic covers and exposed to dust, flies, and contaminants, making them unsafe for consumption. Additionally, the seized products lacked proper labeling such as brand names, manufacturing and expiry dates, and other mandatory food safety details.

Authorities seized around 3,892 kilograms of dairy products, including paneer, khoa, white cream, ghee, and kalakand, valued at approximately ₹11.11 lakh.

All six accused, along with the seized goods, have been handed over to the police for further legal action. Officials said the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb the sale of unsafe food products and protect public health.
