The Mehdipatnam Police Station secured conviction in two E-Petty cases before the XII Special Judicial Magistrate Court, with the court sentencing two accused to short term imprisonment.
The accused were identified as Mohammed Faizan (29) and Mohammad Sameer (23), both residents of Mallepally.
Case facts
According to police, the incident occurred on the intervening night of February 16 and 17, 2026, at around 10:30 PM. The two men were found moving in a suspicious manner in the Mehdipatnam area with their faces covered. When questioned by patrol staff, they allegedly gave evasive and unsatisfactory replies.
Police took them into custody and brought them to the police station for further inquiry. Based on their conduct and circumstances, a case was registered against them under Section 61(b) of the City Police Act, which deals with suspicious movements and behavior in public places.
Court verdict
After hearing the case, the Hon’ble Court found both accused guilty of the charges. They were sentenced to three days of simple imprisonment each.
Police officials said the conviction highlights their continued efforts to curb suspicious activities and maintain public order in sensitive localities. They also appealed to citizens to cooperate with police and report unusual movements or behavior in their neighborhoods.
