Revanth Reddy Sets October Deadline for Land Acquisition & Highway Approvals

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed government officials in Telangana to fast track land acquisition, compensation to farmers, and approvals for several major highway projects. He has set end of October as the deadline for completing pending work, including for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and multiple greenfield and elevated corridors.

Key Instructions from the CM

  • Revanth Reddy instructed district collectors, RDOs, Tahsildars, and other local officials to ensure that land acquisition and payments to affected farmers are done by the end of October. Any negligence or delay could lead to administrative action including suspension.
  • Officials were asked to treat the north and south corridors of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) as a single project so both can begin construction simultaneously.
  • The CM pressed for swift approvals for the Bharat Future City-Amaravati-Machilipatnam 12-lane greenfield highway, emphasizing its strategic importance in improving connectivity between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and reducing travel distances.

Other Projects Highlighted

  • The Raviryal Mannanur elevated corridor on the Hyderabad-Srisailam route was emphasized, especially due to high pilgrim traffic and connection needs.
  • The CM also directed clearance of environmental and forestry permissions, urging alternative land or afforestation in cases where forest land is involved.
  • He urged resolution of court pending land disputes, arbitration cases, and timely upload of final lists of land acquisition to ensure smooth release of funds.

Why This Is Significant

  • These directions are part of a broader push to accelerate infrastructure development in Telangana, with the RRR and greenfield highways expected to unlock economic benefits, reduce travel time, enhance logistics connectivity, and ease traffic congestion.
  • For affected farmers and communities, fast, fair compensation and transparent processes are being emphasised to prevent delays and unrest.
  • The “single project” treatment for both corridors of the RRR ensures synchronized implementation, reducing delays that stem from segmented approvals.
